As a surprise for my boyfriend, I decided to make a Dragonfox; a hybrid of our animalistic alter egos. Out of foam sealant, filler, fabric, wire, some fur and acrylic paint, the strange animal finally took shape.
Once the basic fox shape was carved out of the foam, it was then covered with medium coarse sand filler to create a smooth enought surface for painting.
And then sanded.
Wings sewn from an old pillow case
A wire skeleton was put in place inside channels in the wings to give them realistic moveable joints.
The wings were then soaked in coffee to stain the fabric without the stiffness of paint.
Then the painting begun.
Ears were made out of the same old pillowcase, with wires inside for the shape.
The final step was to attach the fur and sink the ears and wings into the body. And voilá! Dragonfox.
